A PRAYER FOR THE FORTH OF THE SEVEN SORROWS & SEVEN JOYS OF ST. JOSEPH

A just man shall fall seven times and shall rise again.
Proverbs 24:16

The Seven Sundays Devotion to prepare for the feast of St. Joseph on March 19 is a long-standing tradition of our Catholic Church. We begin today on the seventh Sunday before the feast of St. Joseph and as the husband of Our Blessed Mother and the faithful guardian of Jesus Christ as the head of the Holy Family we Honour the seven joys and the seven sorrows that St. Joseph experienced.

FOURTH SEVEN SUNDAY NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH

4^th SORROW:

Simeon’s Prophecy (St. Luke 2:34, 35) And Simeon … said to Mary: Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.

4^th JOY:

The Salvation of Mankind (St. Luke 2:28-34) He took the child into his arms, and blessed God, and said: … My eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples: A light to the revelation of the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And his father and mother were wondering at those things which were spoken concerning him. And Simeon blessed them.

PRAYER: Faithful saint, who wast admitted to take part in man’s redemption, glorious St. Joseph, Simeon s prophecy of the coming woes of Jesus and of Mary filled thy soul with agony like death: but thy soul was filled with blessedness when he foretold salvation and glorious resurrection to innumerable souls.

By this thy sorrow and thy joy, help us with thy prayers to be of those who, by the merits of Jesus and His virgin Mother, shall be partakers of the glorious resurrection.

Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. Amen.
