Progressing In Your Spiritual Life In The Divine Will
Posted in: Featured, Sam Khadhouri OCDS, The Divine Will
This advanced concise teaching clarifies the relationship between the soul’s journey in the Divine Will (imperfect, perfect and the complete way) and the soul’s progress in spiritual life (human, divine and eternal modes through the 7 Interior Castle Mansions) according to St Teresa of Avila and St John of the Cross.
1. Sam quotes BoH Vol 19 – July 26. 1926 and outlines the four degrees of living in the Divine Will. The soul enjoys more of God’s light and His heat of love as she journeys deeper into the Divine Will. In the 4th degree, the soul is living at the centre of the Divine Will, at the centre of the “Sun” of the Divine Will.
2. He cross-references this with the BoH Vol 11 – June 29, 1914, which uses the symbol of entering the sea and diving deeper to explain the journey in the Divine Will. The entry explains this as the progression from the imperfect to more and more perfect and to the complete way of living in the Divine Will.
3. He parallels the Divine Will teaching in these two quoted entries with the mystical theological progression of the soul. This spiritual progression through the seven interior Mansions according to St Teresa of Avila is summarised theologically in the human, divine and eternal modes.
He bases that on Fr Joseph Iannuzzi’s PhD Dissertation p. 74-76 (paragraphs 4.1.2 and 4.1.2.1) and pp. 359-360. 4. Finally, Sam takes the spiritual journey of the Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta as an example to illustrate how she journeyed from the imperfect way of living in the Divine Will, receiving the state of Mystical Marriage, growing in the perfect then complete way of living in the Divine Will. He quotes Fr Joseph Iannuzzi’s PhD Dissertation p. 21 (summary of events in Luisa’s life).
