Are You Ready For When The King Returns?

We bring you this short feature with scripture on the Lord’s return. We hope it challenges you! The Second Coming of Jesus is a central belief in Catholicism and Christianity as a whole. The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus will return at the end of time to establish His eternal kingdom, judge the living and the dead, and bring about the fulfillment of God’s plan. However, the exact time of His return is unknown and remains a mystery.

Key Teachings on Jesus’ Return: Jesus Himself Promised to Return Before His Ascension, Jesus assured His disciples that He would come again: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am, you also may be.” (John 14:3)

The Second Coming Will Be Glorious and Sudden Jesus will return in glory, not in humility as He did in His first coming. His return will be visible to all, not secret: “For just as lightning comes from the east and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:27)

No One Knows the Day or Hour Jesus made it clear that only God the Father knows the exact time of His return: “But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36) Signs Before His Return The Bible mentions various signs that will precede Christ’s Second Coming (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21), including: Wars, famines, earthquakes. The spread of the Gospel to all nations.

The rise of false prophets and deception. Persecution of Christians. A great apostasy (falling away from the faith). The coming of the Antichrist. Cosmic disturbances e.g., darkened sun, falling stars.
