THE SEVEN SORROWS & SEVEN JOYS OF ST. JOSEPH – THIS IS A POWERFUL PRAYER TO PRAY FOR THE PROTECTION OF YOUR FAMILY, FOR THE UNEMPLOYED, AND THE OPPRESSED. PRAY TO ST. JOSEPH, A POWERFUL SAINT FOR PROECTION UNDER HIS HOLY CLOAK.

A just man shall fall seven times and shall rise again.

Proverbs 24:16 The Seven Sundays Devotion to prepare for the feast of St. Joseph on March 19 is a long-standing tradition of our Catholic Church. We begin on the seventh Sunday before the feast of St. Joseph and as the husband of Our Blessed Mother and the faithful guardian of Jesus Christ as the head of the Holy Family we Honour the seven joys and the seven sorrows that St. Joseph experienced.

SORROW: The Loss of Jesus in Jerusalem (St. Luke 2:42-45)
And when Jesus was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem,
according to the custom of the feast, and having fulfilled the days,
when they returned, the child Jesus remained in Jerusalem; and
his parents knew it not. And thinking that he was in the company,
they came a day’s journey, and sought him among their kinsfolks
and acquaintance. And not finding him, they returned into
Jerusalem, seeking him.

JOY: The Finding of Jesus in the Temple (St. Luke 2:46-49)
And it came to pass, that, after three days of searching, they found
him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them,
and asking them questions. And all that heard him were
astonished at his wisdom and his answers. … And his mother said
to him: “Son, why hast thou done so to us? Behold thy father and
I have sought thee sorrowing.” And he said to them: “How is it
that you sought me? did you not know that I must be about my
father’s business?”

PRAYER: Pattern of all holiness, glorious St. Joseph, without fault
of thine, thou didst lose the holy Child, Jesus, and for three days,
to thy great sorrow, didst seek for him, until, with joy
unspeakable, thou didst find thy Life amid the Doctors in the
Temple.
By this thy sorrow and thy joy, we pray thee with all our heart,
stand between as and danger, that we may never lose Jesus by
mortal sin; but if, to our shame and disgrace, we lose him, may we
seek him with such ceaseless grief that we may find him
propitious to us, especially at the hour of our death, and thus go
to enjoy Him in Heaven, and there with thee sing His divine mercy
for ever!

ANTIPHON: Jesus was about thirty years old, being, as was
supposed, the son of Joseph.
V. Pray for us, O Blessed Joseph.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ
Let us pray: O God, Who in Thine ineffable providence didst
vouchsafe to choose Blessed Joseph to be the husband of Thy most
holy Mother: grant, we beseech Thee, that we may be made
worthy to receive him for our intercessor in Heaven, whom on
earth we venerate as our holy protector. Who livest and reignest
world without end. Amen.
